Salvation Army hands out coats for winter season | News [Video]

KIMT News Three’s Saral Khare shares how the event is working to keep the community warm this winter.

ROCHESTER, Minn. – The Salvation Army handed out coats for adults and kids for their coat drive. But they also had items such as: gloves, hats and pants. They had a total of 3,000 items. Director of Community Engagement Rebecca Snapp says having warm clothes is crucial for your health. 

“It’s truly making sure people are safe and we don’t have to worry about frost bites, and fingers and toes and hypothermia and things like that,” said Snapp. 

Last year they had around 600-650 people come and Snapp expected them to increase that number. George Dowdell came to the drive and he says he’s thankful for the help the Salvation Army gives.
