TUCSON, Ariz. (13 News) – Freezing temperatures continue to linger in Southern Arizona. But while many can turn up the thermostat at home, there are hundreds of people who need extra supplies to keep warm at night.
“The people out in the homeless community, the people that are struggling financially,” said Kelli Beasley, “they need these types of items.”
Beasley is the community engagement manager for the Salvation Army of Tucson, and has been working with others in the organization to collect items like jackets, hats, and blankets – if it keeps you warm, the Salvation Army needs it!
Cold lows in the forecast have prompted those without a home to look to the Salvation Army for help – the organization, though, is already dealing with high demand as another program is underway.
