SALADO, Texas — The Salado High School Band kicked off a 22-hour walk, aiming to raise awareness for suicide prevention and honor the memories of family, friends, and veterans who have died to suicide. The event will continue until 1 p.m. tomorrow, symbolizing unity and support within the community.
The initiative comes in response to the statistic that 22 veterans in the U.S. commit suicide every day. Local event leaders, deeply affected by recent increases in suicide rates within Salado and surrounding areas, hope to foster a sense of connection and healing through this poignant gathering.
