Sabres to buy out final three years of Skinner’s contract [Video]

Buffalo, N.Y. (WGR Sports Radio 550) – Jeff Skinner’s time with the Buffalo Sabres is officially coming to an end.

As first reported by Chad DeDominicis of Expected Buffalo on Wednesday, the Sabres will buy out the final three years of Skinner’s contract ahead of the buyout window closing at 5 p.m. ET on Sunday. Sabres general manager Kevyn Adams confirmed the news at the conclusion of the 2024 NHL Draft on Saturday.

“We initiated the process today,” said Adams at the end of his post-draft press conference.

It was last week when Sportsnet hockey insider Elliotte Friedman speculated while on the “Jeff Marek Show” that it was possible the Sabres were looking into buying out Skinner’s remaining contract.

With the Sabres set to buy out the remainder of Skinner’s contract, the team will have to write a check of $2,444,445 every year to the winger for the next six years. The savings on the salary cap …
