SA version of Superstore being developed for Showmax in Zulu [Video]

• Showmax has announced that it is developing a South African Zulu-language adaptation of US comedy – Superstore.
• It is the second comedy adaptation for Showmax, which has also licensed The Office from the BBC.
• Season one to six of Superstore is currently available to stream on Showmax.

There is another international comedy series set to receive a local adaptation, following an announcement by Showmax. The MultiChoice-owned streaming platform is developing a South African Zulu-language adaptation of the NBCUniversal show.

It is the second comedy format adaptation from Showmax, which has also licensed The Office from the BBC.  

“The Showmax Original will be produced locally by Barkers Media (Killer Front Page, reality shows Shebeen Queens and The Bala Family, and the South African Film and Television Awards-nominated How to Manifest a Man) in association with Universal International Studios. Production is expected to start this year,” the streaming platform confirmed in release to Hypertext.
