REDDING, Calif. – The Shasta Regional Transportation Agency held a public workshop Thursday to get public input on a long-term region-to-region transit plan. The project includes the possibilities of expanding both bus and rail service throughout northern California.
The project is thanks to a CalTrans strategic partnership grant awarded to S.R.T.A. in June 2024. Since that time the agency has been gathering and analyzing data including area demographics, current transit maps, and traffic data. Now the agency is seeking public input on project ideas including Thursdays public workshop.
Ideas discussed at the meeting included expansion of rail service out of Redding to both Eugene, OR and Chico.
