Rusty’s Symphony Tap Soloist Debut [Video]

Rusty’s Symphony Tap Soloist Debut

On July 15, 2024 I had the extreme honor of being guest tap dance soloist with the Global Harmony Symphony in their Summer Pops Concert.

My wonderful friend, Valerie Geller, founded this all-volunteer, all-ages, all-levels community orchestra in 2016, and it’s been a wonderful phenomenon ever since. She invited me to perform in a special tap arrangement of “It Don’t Mean A Thing (If It Ain’t Got That Swing).”

As I had never done this before, my goal was to keep it simple and keep ENTERTAINING. So I used bits of The Louis DaPron Chorus and the good ol’ B.S. Chorus.

I have to tell you it was challenging, because on several parts, the orchestra completely cuts out, so I had to keep that metronome going in my head (the conductor was behind me). Anyway, it was, as I always hope performances will be for me, FUN FUN FUN!

Thanks, Valerie, for making this all happen.
