Roundabout construction impacting schools | News [Video]

Some Henderson County schools can expect long commutes to school as work continues on roundabouts.

HENDERSON, Ky. (WEVV) — Heavy traffic is already expected during the first few weeks of school, but with limited lanes open due to roundabout construction commutes are expected to be longer. 

Jenny Richmond, the community relations specialist for Henderson County Schools, says, “It’s just not one or two weeks we need you to be sure to leave extra early. It’s going to be for a while now.” 

For students attending Henderson County High School, North Middle School, and East Heights Elementary, construction on a new roundabout will bring challenges.

With only one lane open in each direction, Henderson County Schools advises parents and students to leave the house earlier.

If a student walks or bikes to school, there won’t be a crossing guard, so students can only cross at traffic lights.
