ROCKY MOUNT, Va. (WFXR)- Rocky Mount Smokehouse was just one day shy of its 7th anniversary when its smoker caught fire on June 20th.
Owner of Rocky Mount Smokehouse Allen Hancock said, “Luckily a passerby saw it not too long after it ignited, and I think the fire department was here and had it out in eight minutes. I guess no one wanted to go without barbeque they were here quick.”

Hancock said the building came out from the ashes after the fire and instead of falling, he let it pick the business up and added new areas he never thought he could.
One of those areas is a brand new bar where the old smoker sat. The new smoker will arrive at the end of the month and will be outside for safety and space reasons.
