More than 2,000 job seekers attended the Robins Air Force Base hiring event at the Macon Coliseum
MACON, Ga. — More than 2,000 job seekers converged on the Macon Coliseum on Thursday, hoping to secure positions at Robins Air Force Base through a hiring event that bypasses traditional federal employment processes.
The base is seeking workers in critical fields, including engineering, cybersecurity and firefighting, as nearly 60% of the federal workforce approaches retirement eligibility.
Beau’Elise Houston, a Middle Georgia State University student, said she was a little bit nervous when she first arrived.
“But when I got to talking, nerves went out the window,” Houston said. “I think I did well, and I’m just staying confident about the entire process.”
The accounting major is set to graduate in May 2026 and hopes to eventually run her own accounting firm.
