NC Wildlife Resources Commission says October and November is mating season for white-tailed deer.
GREENSBORO, N.C. — We heard your concerns about an uptick of roadkill throughout the Triad.
NC Wildlife Officer Brett Shreve patrols Guilford County. He said October and November is mating season for white tail deer. He added that there is an increased presence of bears throughout the state.
If drivers see wildlife they should:
- Adjust speed, drive slow
- Do not interact with the animals (in person or with your vehicle)

“We get calls pretty frequently about roadkill deer. Basically, the bucks are chasing the doe’s,” Officer Shreve explained, “Distracted driving is the most common reason why people are hitting deer. If you see one there’s likely going to be more following behind.”
