Parents in the Mini-Cassia area may have a new choice in public education in the fall of 2027.
A community founding group formed in early 2023 is planning the creation of Riverton Classical Academy. As a parent, group member Jace Johnson said there is a lack of different methods of education in the area besides the school district, one private school, homeschooling and online education.
“To me,” Johnson said, “that is not enough options for parents to choose from for the education of the most valuable resource that we have, which is our children.”
The idea for the classical education charter school began, he said, when his friend Alison Peterson reached out to community members with the idea of starting a new school. The group went from having no idea how to start a charter school to finding a model school.
