Riser Middle School prepares students for testing with Elevate by 8 initiative [Video]

WEST MONROE, La. (KNOE) – Riser Middle School Officials are beginning a new initiative, Elevate by 8 to help prepare student for standardized testing.

Riser Middle School Principal DJ Davis says after they saw the latest test scores of students, they began looking for ways to support students and increase scores.

Davis says that’s where the idea of Elevate by 8 came from.

They plan to increase standardized test scores by 8 points through focusing on teacher and student engagement and other initiatives. Davis says they have created a landing page where teachers, parents and community members can find resources and support the initiative.

“We have implemented several components that will allow us to get to the goal. We have in school tutoring, we’ve hired a math interventionist, and we’re also doing incentives for attendance and also assessments throughout the month. We’ve created incentives for not only the teachers but …
