RICHLAND COUNTY, S.C. — Richland County Councilmembers have approved the creation of a public-private economic development partnership.
The county said the goal of the new deal, known as “P3,” is to entice more private businesses to the area and secure quality job opportunities for residents.
“This vote for P3 is our continued commitment to Richland county residents to focus on economic development and making sure jobs are here,” said Jesica Mackey, Richland County Councilwoman.
Mackey explained that once the partnership launches, the county will appoint board members, then P3 will meet with local officials to come up with solutions to community needs.
The transition of the county’s economic development functions to a P3 will allow Richland County to compete more effectively in the high-stakes battle to attract and retain quality job opportunities.
