Revitalization project underway in Nitro [Video]

NITRO, W.Va. (WSAZ) – As 2025 begins, the city of Nitro is investing in their community.

Nitro Mayor Dave Casebolt says Nitro had a lot of old, dysfunctional, and unused buildings. Those buildings take up a lot of space, and Casebolt says the city needs to do something.

“So, we have to make that investment in our community, tear those old buildings down, and now we are seeing new investment in those properties,” Casebolt said.

Dilapidated buildings in Nitro have already been demolished. In the demolition process, officials are creating more spacing for housing in Nitro and adding property value to the existing houses surrounding those buildings.

“What used to be old, dilapidated property, they are going to see new homes, which is only going to improve their property, improve their property value and make Nitro better for investment,” Casebolt said.
