Revised Florida social media ban adds parent consent, gains Senate OK [Video]

The big story: Days after Gov. Ron DeSantis vetoed legislation that aimed to bar minors under 16 from social media, state lawmakers returned to Tallahassee with a replacement proposal.

The revised measure, tacked onto a separate bill, added more parental controls to the decisions over whether their children may access the platforms.

The bill passed the Senate with greater support than the initial version that DeSantis rejected. It still requires House approval before it heads to the governor’s desk. Read more from Florida Politics, USA Today Florida Network.
