AUGUSTA, Maine (WABI) – A press conference was held today in Augusta about a report on women’s employment, the gender wage gap and quality of life in general for Maine women.
The Maine Permanent Commission on the Status of Women (MePCSW) along with Secretary of State Shenna Bellows held a press conference regarding the release of their biennial report. The report also includes data to support recommendations made for the state legislature.
One of those points being that women statistically are in the labor force less than men due to care-giving responsibilities often times causing long-term financial harm.
