Red Lobster is set to close 23 more locations in North and South Carolina by August 31, according to a court filing on August 22. According to Charlotte Business Journal, the closures come as part of the chain’s strategy to reject leases for unprofitable restaurants following its Chapter 11 bankruptcy filing on May 19.
The new closures include restaurants in Jacksonville, NC, and Cayce, SC. This follows previous closures in North Carolina cities such as Cary, Durham, Burlington, and Rocky Mount, and in Myrtle Beach, SC.
Currently, Red Lobster operates 13 locations in North Carolina and 11 in South Carolina, as listed on its website. The chain, based in Orlando, Florida, is adjusting its operations amid financial challenges and ongoing restructuring efforts.
