Recognizing impacts during Breast Cancer Awareness Month [Video]

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month in America, a time to recognize the impact that breast cancer has on our communities.

More than 300,000 cases of invasive breast cancer are estimated this year alone, with more than 42,000 deaths expected.

Experts are urging the importance of early screening and knowing the signs of when to go see a doctor.

AM Extra was joined by Dr. Annie Hung, an oncologist with OHSU, and Tyler Pagel, development director with Susan G. Komen, to discuss breast cancer and resources to help patients.
