Rashee Rice injury: Physical therapist discusses recovery [Video]

Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Rashee Rice took a major blow to his right knee in Sunday’s game, resulting in a yet-to-be-confirmed ACL injury.Chiefs head coach Andy Reid has not confirmed an ACL diagnosis or released official word on Rice’s future for the remainder of the season, but local therapists say that with surgery and physical therapy, his prognosis could be positive.The ACL, or anterior cruciate ligament, is “a stabilizer,” according to PT Solutions physical therapist Austin Roepe.“For Rice, it’s a major bummer because he has had such a great start to the season,” Roepe said. He noted that surgery to repair the ACL can make the knee stronger in the long run, but it is a long road to recovery.“Rice will be looking at 10 to 12 months of recovery to full mobility and stability.
