Rapid City high schoolers take advantage of career connections event [Video]

RAPID CITY, S.D. (KOTA) — Black Hills State University hosted its first-ever Human Services and Education Camp on Friday for Rapid City high school students.

The program connected students with professors and professionals in their dream careers.

“They will rotate through six different sessions where they learn about a specific career in a human services or education field,” said event organizer Samantha Smith. “We have three faculty presentations and activities from Black Hills State, and then we also have three community organizations.”

Students had opportunities to view demonstrations by local groups including Pennington County Search and Rescue, among others, to gain a sense of what their jobs look like day-to-day.
