RAPID CITY, S.D. (KOTA) – Rapid City may look a little different in the next five years.
Monday, City Council passed the framework for the next Vision Fund spending plan by an 8 to 2 vote. The city could spend approximately $91 million on a variety of community projects through 2029.
“What that does is that it allocates funds into different categories that we will fund to enhance the community,” Rapid City Mayor Jason Salamun said.
Those different categories include allocating more than $45 million to civic improvements, over $21 million to economic development and more than $24 million to community projects.
“The Vision Fund, when it was originally done, was called the Economic Development and Civic Improvements Fund. So, we really wanted to stay true to that idea and make sure we are funding projects that are great for the municipality of the taxpayers of Rapid City,” Salamun added.
