RAINBOW CITY, Ala. (WBRC) – The Rainbow City Police Department have started their Police Explorer Post. The program gives young people between the ages of 14 and 20 an opportunity to perform duties similar to a real police officer as a way of previewing a potential career in law enforcement.
Chief Camp Yancey with the Rainbow City Police Department says, regardless if you become a first responder this program will give you the life skills needed to become successful.
A partnership with Scouts of America/Learning for Life, young men and women in this program will receive extensive training in the areas of building clearing, firearms safety, traffic stops, high-risk search warrants, and much more.
They will also have the opportunity to travel and compete against explorer posts from around the state and country to show they have become proficient in their skills.
