Almost 30,000 Qantas staff members have received a “thank you payment” from the national carrier, ahead of its annual general meeting.
Qantas announced the payments in its Group Market Update on Friday morning.

“Around 27,000 Qantas Group employees were advised today of a thank you payment, as part of recognising the contribution they have made over the past year,” Qantas said.
“A total of $28 million cost will be recognised in the first half of financial year 2025.”
Engineers represented by the Alliance Unions (AMWU, AWU and ETU) are eligible to receive the $1000 thank you payment for their contributions to the Qantas Group.
Before the meeting, hundreds of employees downed tools across all major Australian airports.
