Q&A session offers details of Master Draft Plan for Prichard Water Board customers [Video]

CHICKASAW, Ala. (WALA) – The ongoing saga over what to do with the broken Prichard Water & Sewer System continued Wednesday night in Chickasaw.

In addition to providing water to Prichard — they also provide service to Chickasaw. Residents from both communities attended an informational meeting.

Prichard Water Board court-appointed receiver John Young, Jr. was on hand to answer questions about the Draft Master Plan — which proposes turning over control and management to MAWSS to operate.

The Prichard Water & Sewer System is in this situation after years of mismanagement and lack of repairs. Young explained the Draft Master Plan comes after looking at more than 20 alternatives — and feels MAWSS is the best path forward long-term.
