Prosecutors lay out theory of relentless campaign of revenge in Mobile [Video]

MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) – Federal prosecutors on Monday sketched out their theory connecting a string of shootings in 2022 that they described as a “relentless campaign of revenge” that killed two innocent people and wounded six others.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Justin Roller told jurors during his opening statement that John Fitzgerald McCarroll Jr. had been trying since 2020 to avenge the death of Ryan Campbell. Roller said the victim was like a little brother to McCarroll and that, although police charged a different man, the defendant blamed a man named Milton “Milt-Milt” Carter.

“This is a straightforward case about a murder plot – a street war, a blood feud,” he said. “It’s a case about a relentless campaign of revenge, led by this defendant, John McCarroll.”
