Corning could have digital sign regulations starting in the beginning of 2025

CORNING, Calif. – The city of Corning is looking at a proposed ordinance that would regulate digital signs in Corning.

Action News Now spoke with Christina Meeds, the Corning City Planner, about the ordinance and what changes it could bring.

Meeds says that if the ordinance is passed, as part of the ordinance, digital signs would only be allowed in the commercial-designated zones of Corning.

Under the proposal, a digital sign that has animated messages, off-site advertising, or personalized messages would not be allowed in non-commercial zones in Corning.

Meeds tells Action News Now that Corning is not getting an influx of digital signs, but that city leaders are just trying to get ahead of the trend.

According to Meeds, the ordinance for the digital signs all comes down to driver safety. However, Meeds was not aware of any accidents …
