Styrofoam accounts for 30% of waste in the landfill, according to Lott Industries. The company has been recycling styrofoam for over two years, and it wants to expand its mission in the community.

“We knock it down into a plastic brick that can be sold to make furniture out of,” Jennie Vancil, the development coordinator at Lott Industries said.

Furniture includes benches, slides, and picnic tables that you see at the local park.

They cannot accomplish their mission alone. They apply for grants to get funding plus recruit organizations to make recycling accessible.

Paul Wood is the missions team leader at St. Andrew United Methodist Church. He builds a styrofoam collection bin at the church to bring recycling directly to his community.
