A historic weekend is set for New York. The state will host its first international mountain biking competition under the Union Cycliste Internationale World Series. Lake Placid’s Mt Van Hoevenberg will be taking a pivot from its typical bobsled and winter event sighting after the construction of its brand-new mountain bike racecourse over the summer. It’s an exciting opportunity for professional athletes like Esteban Herrera Ochoa. The biker from the Pan-American Union Racing team will be taking part in his first elite world cup race in the Olympic Village. “It’s my first world cup,” Ochoa said. “I’m happy to be here for my first world cup.”Top mountain bikers from across the world will be competing not with their countries, but instead for branded teams featuring athletes from all different nationalities teaming up.
