Press conference on Mayor’s proposed budget | News [Video]

RAPID CITY, S.D. – Rapid City Mayor Jason Salamun held a news conference on Tuesday to further explain the budget plan he outlined Monday night.

Salamun was joined by several department heads to answer questions. The nearly $340.5 million proposal is $80 million more than this year’s budget.

The spending plan calls for large increases for city water, wastewater, and capital improvement projects. The mayor says the increases are to get ahead of city growth, but could this become the new baseline for the budget?

Salamun says, “I see the general fund budget being that way. The enterprise funds will be different because they’re going through investments right now that are stuff that you only see once every several decades.”
