LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) – The severe weather that caused widespread damage to the Capital City, the Omaha metro, and many other areas in eastern Nebraska has left a wide array of problems in the storm’s wake.

Lincoln’s 44 wells lost all power Wednesday following severe storms that caused extensive damage to the Omaha Public Power District (OPPD) electrical distribution system.

That night, the City of Lincoln asked residents to temporarily stop all outdoor water usage and voluntarily reduce indoor water use until further notice.

As of Thursday afternoon, Lincoln Transportation and Utilities said power has been restored to Lincoln’s entire wellfield in Ashland and has terminated its request for voluntary outdoor water use conservation.

LTU Director Liz Elliott said Lincoln’s water operations have returned to normal and the effort put forth by City and OPPD team members to resume power at the City’s Ashland facility has been fast and efficient.
