Portland spends another sunny day with highs near 90 Friday. Heat risk is moderate [Video]

Portland topped 90 degrees Thursday and will do so again Friday as hot temperatures continue into the weekend.

The National Weather Service says the heat risk index remains in the moderate category from Portland to Salem and in the Columbia River Gorge and upper Hood River Valley.

Although daytime highs will stay in the upper 80s to low 90s through Saturday, overnight lows are dropping into the 50s and should help to mitigate any stronger heat risks.

The National Weather Service uses a heat index to provide forecasts explaining the potential level of risk of heat-related impacts occurring over a 24-hour period.

Portland will be sunny Friday with a high of about 91 degrees.

Temperatures are likely to land a few degrees cooler Saturday as onshore flow increases along the coast. The high temperature will reach about 88 degrees.
