Portland sees morning clouds Wednesday, afternoon clearing; high 80 [Video]

Portland only warmed to 72 degrees Tuesday under cloudy skies that didn’t clear out in most areas. Morning clouds will kick off Wednesday’s weather, but a weak ridge of high pressure should move the clouds out by the afternoon, warming the day to about 80 degrees.

The National Weather Service says clouds should dissipate from south to north Wednesday as the ridge builds over northwest Oregon and southwest Washington.

Portland’s temps will heat up nearer to average under mostly clear skies by the afternoon.

Clouds are expected to move back in overnight and Thursday will start off with cloud cover, then clear to partly sunny. The high will reach near 76 degrees.

There’s a 30-50% chance of scattered showers along the Lane and Linn county Cascades later Thursday. The mountains north of Linn County have up to a 20% chance of showers.
