Port Aransas residents affected by more power outages Tuesday night [Video]

According to AEP-Texas, the initial outage was transmission related, losing power on the coldest day of the year.

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Port Aransas residents started the day with power outages, and after the majority of customers’ service was restored Tuesday, the evening brought another outage that left more than 1,500 residents closer to the north side of town without power.

Power was restored shortly before 10 p.m.

Earlier Tuesday, one Winter Texan told 3NEWS the weather caught off guard. 

“It’s cold but not as cold as Canada,” he said. “That’s why we come down here. It’s normally warmer, but hey, it is what it is.”

Thousands went without power Tuesday, during the coldest day of the year, and Port Aransas residents suffered the most outages, with more than 3,000 customers affected.

Places like The Texan, IGA, and local coffee shops were a hot spot — literally as many residents and visitors went to warm up and stock up on snacks …
