Police identify Mason school bus driver charged with endangering children [Video]

MASON, Ohio (WXIX) – The City of Mason Police Department has released the name of a former Mason City School bus driver who is accused of being intoxicated while on the job.

Police announced Wednesday that James Vance, 44, of Fairfield, was charged with 46 counts of endangering children.

A press release from the City of Mason Police Department said the department was notified on May 30, 2024 of an incident involving a Mason school bus driver.

The Mason City School district said 10 Mason High School students and 21 Mason Early Childhood students were driven to school before the driver was taken off duty.

The district said another bus driver smelled alcohol on the driver in question and immediately reported it.

On Tuesday, the district did not name Vance as the employee but said he no longer worked for Mason City Schools.
