Police identify downtown Salt Lake shooting victim [Video]

SALT LAKE CITY — The Salt Lake City Police Department has identified the suspect in a deadly downtown Salt Lake shooting. It happened on Saturday, Oct. 5. 

 Farshad Hassan-Puori, age 49, has been accused of shooting and killing a 30-year-old man. SLCPD said Hassan-Puori allegedly shot the victim, chased him, and then shot him a second time. 

SLCPD identified the victim as 30-year-old Gage Barrow.

According to a press release, the investigation began at 12:18 p.m. SLCPD received multiple calls about a shooting near 200 S. State Street. 

When they arrived, they found the victim on the ground. He had multiple gunshot wounds.

Despite the efforts of paramedics, police, and bystanders, he died on the scene. 

SLCPD said that people who witnessed the downtown shooting followed Hassan-Puori. They alerted the police of his location. 

Officers located him near 200 E. and 300 S. He possessed a firearm but was safely arrested.
