‘Please stay home,’ says York County PennDOT official [Video]

Vehicle restrictions were in effect across south-central Pennsylvania throughout most of Sunday as crews continued to treat state roads.

YORK COUNTY, Pa. — Officials with PennDOT expect overnight wind speeds and colder temperatures to create slick road conditions this week, adding to an already busy month for snowplows.

“Even [during] the smallest storms, we have to be out there and treating the roads,” said Gary Ishman, Senior Maintenance Manager for York County PennDOT. “We’re out, and the storms are closer together, so it’s got us hopping pretty good.”

In a press release, an official with PennDOT wrote, “Although PennDOT crews have been treating roadways, the department’s primary goal is to keep roads passable, not completely free of ice and snow. PennDOT will continue to treat roadways throughout the storm until precipitation stops and roads are clear.”

With at least 3 inches of snow blanketing the county, crews are expected to keep plowing over the next few days.
