ST. MARYS, W.Va. (WTAP) – The West Virginia Department of Environmental Protection’s Rehabilitation Environmental Action Plan awarded $43,000 in grants to fund electronic recycling efforts
Pleasants County Solid Waste Authority was among the list of eight grants funded through the WVDEP’s REAP Covered Electronic Devices Recycling Grant Program, receiving $6,000.
According to a press release, the CED Program required manufacturers to register their brands with West Virginia. Fees collected by the program go to fund the grants.
The press release says the program aims to:
- Keep an updated registration status of manufacturers of covered electronic devices
- Determine if manufacturers have adopted or implemented a free take-back/recycling program for their products
- Award recycling grants to counties and municipalities for recycling or other programs that divert covered electronic devices from the waste stream

- Berkeley County Solid Waste Authority: $6,000
- Cabell County Solid Waste Authority: $4,000
- Calhoun County Solid Waste Authority: $3,000
- Kanawha County Commission: $6,000
