Play ball! — Lakewood completes Lakefront Field renovation [Video]

LAKEWOOD, Ohio — Lakefront Field now boasts field innovations that match its scenic location along Lake Erie.

Lakewood City Schools Community Recreation & Education Department Coordinator Leslie Favre Krogman said the popular field was last renovated six to eight years ago.

“It’s a heavy-usage field not only for our youth activities but with everything that’s been going on in Lakewood Park,” she said. “It needed a little love, so we went in, leveled it, flattened out the infield and kind of regraded everything.

“We put in a couple of different base distances to not only accommodate in-house programs but travel as well. It really looks awesome. We have a new infield material that we put down, similar to Stone House (field).”

Lakewood Public Works Director Chris Gordon said the recently completed project, which was roughly $20,000, was needed due to regrading issues, holding water areas and low spots.
