Plans set for Omahas 25th Holiday Lights Festival [Video]

OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) – Too early for Christmas carols and decorations? Sure. Too early to start planning for those Christmas carols and decorations? Au contraire.

On Tuesday, Omaha officials have announced the schedule for this year’s annual Holiday Lights Festival — and this one promises to be special. It’s the silver anniversary for the celebration, as 2024 marks the 25th annual event.

All the festivities kick off with the Lighting Ceremony at the RiverFront on Nov. 30, when Mayor Jean Stothert will lead a countdown to the holiday season and help light up the night sky at the Gene Leahy Mall in downtown Omaha.

That day also happens to be Small Business Saturday nationwide, and ceremony attendees are encouraged to explore the Old Market once the lights have been switched on.
