A former police chief is in trouble with the law. For months, 12 Investigates has been looking into allegations of fraud involving the Pilot Mountain Police Department. We now know that former Chief Robert Jackson turned himself in to authorities late last month and later bonded out. An indictment obtained from the Surry County Courthouse indicates that he faces eight offenses of obtaining property by false pretenses. According to those documents, Jackson is accused of repeatedly defrauding Pilot Mountain Unites from July 2021 through May 2023.Kimberly Quinn is the nonprofit’s president and worked with some of those officers for years. “The police department, the chief, would coordinate with us how many officers were required,” she explained. “Which officers it would be, and they would give us a list of officers, their names and the pay rate.” The indictment reveals that many of those officers didn’t work those events but were …
