Children setting off fireworks at the Blanding Boulevard apartment complex appears to be the cause, officials said. Five families have been displaced.
MIDDLEBURG, Fla. — Children setting off fireworks appears to be the cause of a fire Friday that made residents evacuate, according to Clay County officials.
At the Hunter’s Run Apartments in Middleburg, the fire caused extensive damage to several apartments and six families were displaced, according to a county press release said.
Clay County Fire Rescue responded to the apartment building Friday, evacuated the residents and put the fire under control.
The Clay County Sheriff’s Office and the state Fire Marshal continue to investigate, the press release said. The Red Cross is assisting the families.
