Photos: Charlotte-Mecklenburg police officers invited to work Trump inauguration [Video]

WASHINGTON (WBTV) – Dozens of officers from the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department were sent to Washington, D.C. to help with Monday’s presidential inauguration in Washington, D.C.

The department posted photos from the U.S. Capitol this week and previously said it was sending around 100 officers.

“We were honored to be asked to participate in this year’s Inauguration Day once again!” Charlotte-Mecklenburg police wrote on social media. “It’s always an honor to take part in history and show our department to the country.”

In a video posted before the inauguration, Charlotte-Mecklenburg police Maj. J.D. Thomas said the department took mobile field force units and public order bikes. Thomas said that in the past, the department has assisted with crowd control and perimeter security.

“We’ve got a good reputation with crowd control and work large events with the public,” the police major said. “We’re sworn in by the agencies once we arrive there, …
