Phillips Ave parking ordinance moving forward, aquatics and recreation bond approaching [Video]

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (Dakota News Now) – At a press conference Tuesday, Sioux Falls city councilors laid out the road map ahead for an expected aquatics and recreation bond, as well as a proposed ordinance that could change parking on Phillips Avenue.

Three weeks after addressing a Sioux Falls City Council informational meeting, Councilor Jennifer Sigette said the momentum to help her bring forward her Phillips Avenue parking ordinance is growing.

“Of course, there’s a couple negatives. I mean, there’s always going to be. But I would say 99 percent of the feedback we’ve had is, ‘It’s about time,’ are the words I’ve heard a lot,” Sigette said.

The ordinance would require vehicles parking between 9th and 13 streets to leave at least 10 feet of clearance out onto the road. This would mean larger trucks and vans would need to park on side streets or in ramps if their …
