SHEBOYGAN, Wis. (WBAY) – Many of the pets that were impacted in Tennessee by Hurricane Helene were airlifted to new shelters in Wisconsin and Michigan for a second chance at finding a new home. On Thursday, over a dozen dogs landed in Sheboygan County and were taken to the local humane society.
Touching down in Sheboygan Thursday afternoon, 13 dogs traveled all the way from Tennessee, in hopes of finding a new home.
“I kind of fight back tears a little bit because they’ve been through so much,” said Darlyn Summers, Community Engagement Coordinator with the Humane Society of Sheboygan County. “I’m sure that they’re stressed out. We want them to be comfortable, and so it’s really really emotional on our end. We just want to hug them.”
