Pete Ricketts wins special election race for U.S. Senate [Video]

LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) – Republican Sen. Pete Ricketts will continue his role as U.S. senator in Nebraska, according to AP election results.

Sen. Ricketts won against his democratic opponent Preston Love Jr., a longtime community activist in Omaha.

At the Beardmore Event Center in Bellevue, many Republicans gathered to support Sen. Ricketts.

“Nebraska is what America is supposed to be and we have a lot to offer the rest of the nation. We value our communities, families, our faith. We work together to solve our problems. We hold government accountable,” Sen. Ricketts said at the watch party. “We know the unlimited potential of the individual. Sadly, these values are slipping away in other parts of the country.”

“We can take what we do here in Nebraska to Washington, D.C,” he said.

As he continues his role as U.S. senator, he said that there’s still a lot of work to do.
