Seven years after the closure of Pleasant View Elementary School, the 33,000-square-foot building and surrounding grounds has zoning approval from Amherst County to become a multi-purpose event venue for public entertainment, short-term rentals and other uses.
The Amherst County Board of Supervisors voted unanimously Sept. 17 to approve a special use permit for married couple Ron and Jennifer “Jenna” Lloyd Fisher to operate Pleasant Vista on Dancing Creek, a center for events such as weddings, family celebrations, musical and drama productions, festivals, conferences and meetings and indoor and outdoor sporting events.
Jennifer Fisher, who grew up in the Pleasant View community and attended the school, said the building is near and dear to the couple’s hearts and their plan has much support from family and friends.
“To say we are excited about this would be an understatement,” Jennifer Fisher said. “I have been connected to Amherst County my entire life. …
