PBRC distributed over 200 smoke alarms to families in need.
WEST ODESSA, Texas — At Kellus Turner Community Center, Permian Basin Red Cross (PBRC) held their “Sound the Alarm” event. Red Cross volunteers gave away and/or installed 240 smoke alarms to about 60 families across the Permian Basin. They were further assisted by Odessa Fire Rescue and volunteer students from Ector County ISD (ECISD).
“The way that we do it is, we go out in the community and… really knock on doors and get ahead of it,” said Aaron Gomez, a community volunteer leader with PBRC. “[Just] trying to get into these homes and install smoke alarms”.
