RAPID CITY, S.D. (KOTA) – The Pennington County Administration Building saw about a hundred people on its lawn Wednesday evening as family and friends of murder victims attended a vigil in their memory.
Wednesday was the National Day of Remembrance for Homicide Victims. The Pennington County State’s Attorney’s Office hosted the event with the hope of giving a sense of community to those who have lost a loved one to violent crime.
“Being in the same space with people who kind of understand what you’re going through is a big deal,” said Public Information Officer Katy Urban. “So, we were just happy that we could facilitate it tonight and hopefully just provide space for people to grieve and remember their loved ones.”
