ROCKY POINT, N.C. (WECT) – Pender County is the second-fastest growing county in North Carolina. Now, leaders are trying to figure out how to best manage that growth.
At a community meeting Wednesday in Rocky Point, county leaders asked for feedback from Pender County neighbors. It’s feedback they’ll use to develop a new comprehensive land use plan, that they’re calling “Imagine Pender 2050.”
Some views are divided, though. Many think of the exponential growth in the county as either a positive or a negative.
“A lot of folks have different opinions and thoughts on growth and development and conservation,” long-range planner for the county Adam Moran said. “There’s a lot of different potential tools that you know governments could use to help manage that growth.
